Kamala Harris discredits electoral polls: "I'm not saying it's gonna be easy, but we will win"
The vice president assured in an interview with '60 Minutes' that the media does not focus enough on the successes of the Biden Administration that will give them victory in 2024.
"I'm not saying it's gonna be easy, but we will win," Vice President, Kamala Harris, said in front of Bill Whitaker and the 60 Minutes cameras this weekend. Harris offered an interview to the CBS program to talk about the war in Israel, the operations in Gaza and also about the future of the Biden-Harris binomial in the 2024 elections.
When Whitaker brought up the Biden Administration's poor results in the polls, the vice president downplayed them. According to Harris, poor prospects are not a problem heading into the elections. Despite the fact that the popularity of his Administration has fallen from 70% to less than 50% among the youngest, according to CBS surveys.
Harris trusts that the concerns of young people, "the climate and the warming of our planet," will be enough of a stimulus for North American youth to support Biden's candidacy in next year's presidential elections. "It polls as one of their top concerns," said the vice president for the CBS program. Harris blamed the media for her government's poor results in the polls. "When we talk about what we are doing with student loan debt, the polls are very high. The challenge we have as an administration is for people to know who has carried it. That is our challenge."
The vice president was confident that when it came time to vote, her candidacy with Biden would obtain sufficient results to remain in the White House for a second term. Regarding the hypotheses that remain pending about this mandate, in relation to Joe Biden's health, Harris did not want to make any statement. Whitaker said the president's age and ability to continue working is a legitimate concern.
"There would be a free for all for who would run as president. You are in the spot that it would be natural for you to step up," Whitaker asked. Harris dodged the question seriously and tried to get out of that discussion by all means. "I'm not going to get into that hypothetical," Harris insisted. "Because Joe Biden is very much alive and is running for re-election," she stated bluntly. "I don't have time for parlor games."
Suspense in economy, inflation and border
Despite Harris' words, Americans continue to express their discontent with the Biden Administration in the polls. The latest CBS polls together with YouGov for October give 60% general disapproval for Biden. Among the most disappointing issues overseen by the Democratic Administration, immigration (68%) and the economy (63%) stand out.
Regarding more recent issues such as the war in Israel, Biden also does not get good support from society. Regarding the response that your Government is giving to the conflict between Hamas and Israel, 56% disapprove. More specifically, 32% of those surveyed believe that the Biden Government is not showing enough support that Israel deserves in recent weeks.
