(AFP) Nissan plans to cut an additional 10,000 jobs worldwide, Japanese media reported Monday, after the struggling factory announced in November it was cutting 9,000 positions.

Public broadcaster NHK explained that the decision to cut 19,000 jobs would reduce Nissan's total workforce by about 15%, without giving further details.

The group declined to comment on this information, which was also published by the Nikkei business daily.

This information is announced on the eve of the release of the group's financial results for its fiscal year 2024-25, which ended at the end of March.

The Japanese auto giant is expected to announce on Tuesday a record annual loss, which according to its forecasts could amount to $5.1 billion amid a painful restructuring, weakening the manufacturer after the failure of its merger with Honda and in the face of U.S. tariffs.

The group had already warned on April 24 that it anticipated an unprecedented net loss "of between 700 billion yen and 750 billion yen ($4.9 billion-$5.3 billion) for fiscal 2024."
