Ted Cruz calls for Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner to be banned from entering the U.S.

The senator has called for the sanctioning of the Argentine vice-president for corruption and for being "deeply implicated" in the death of prosecutor Nisman.

Ted Cruz has requested the prohibition of the entry of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and her family members into the country. The vice president of Argentina is involved in a number of corruption cases and another pertaining to her alleged influence in the murder of prosecutor Alberto Nisman. These are the main allegations given by the Republican senator in his request.

In a letter sent to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Cruz detailed:

Most notoriously, she is deeply implicated in the 2015 death of Argentine Special Prosecutor Alberto Nisman, who was found shot in his apartment the day before he was set to present evidence to the Argentine Congress that would have proved Fernández de Kirchner colluded with Iran to cover up Iran's role in the 1994 bombing of the AMIA.

The Texas senator provided a copy of the description given by the Argentine Prosecutor's Office of the Kirchner scheme:

It is the biggest corruption scheme ever known in the country.

"The evidence of the vice president's corruption is public, credible and, now, backed by Argentina's judicial system," Cruz said. Apart from that, on Twitter, he called Kirchner a "kleptocrat" and accused her of having undermined U.S. security. Therefore, he expects the White House to ban Kirchner and her family from entering the United States as it did with the vice president of Paraguay, Hugo Velázquez.

The evidence that Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is a kleptocrat is now public and overwhelming, and her corruption has for decades undermined American national security. Congress has mandated sanctions for her behavior. The Biden admin must impose them.

The Argentine Public Prosecutor's Office is seeking 12 years of imprisonment and permanent disqualification for the crimes of illicit association and fraudulent administration against Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.
