Fans of the most followed sport in the United States passionately follow each of their team's games during the regular season, hoping that they can reach the Super Bowl. Many build up their savings throughout the year, hoping for the chance to go and see their team try to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy in person. Sometimes, it does not matter how much the ticket costs. It is now known what Eagles and Chiefs fans will pay this year at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
According to Forbes magazine, the average cost of a ticket to Super Bowl LVII is $9,000. That is equivalent to about four months' rent for an average U.S. home. Breaking down the prices, the cheapest ticket is $4,000 and the most expensive one is over $40,000.
The average ticket price to the game at State Farm Stadium, which seats 63,400 spectators, is the second most expensive in history. In Super Bowl LV, which pitted the Kansas City Chiefs against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the average price was $12,000.
Super Bowl LVII resale: almost half a million dollars
Resale is another matter. The most expensive Super Bowl LVII tickets have been offered for as much as $418,182. On the exchange and resale site VividSeats, there are offers close to half a million for a luxury suite. It is not known if any fan has paid this much for a ticket.
On the flip side, cheaper resale tickets can be found for just under $30,000.
Average regular league price
During the NFL regular season, which began on Sept. 8, 2022 and ended on Jan. 8, 2023, the average ticket price among the league's 32 teams was $537.
The most expensive average ticket price was for the San Francisco 49ers ($1,028), who ultimately reached the NFC Championship game. The cheapest average ticket price was, ironically, the Arizona Cardinals, who play at State Farm Stadium.
To see a Kansas City Chiefs game live, fans paid an average of $819 (third highest). Philadelphia Eagles fans paid an average of $724, seventh in the ranking.
