Several states brace for storm

The National Meteorological Service reported that the Northeast will likely get snow and some mixed precipitation.

The National Weather Service reported that several states will likely experience heavy rain and snow due to a new storm. The agency explained that the alert is expected to remain in place until Friday.

"A front will cross the eastern U.S. Thursday into Friday with rain showers and a few thunderstorms. Snow showers and some mixed precipitation are likely in the Northeast U.S.," the service said on its X account.

Meanwhile, Fox Weather reported that Chicago, St. Louis, Cleveland and Cincinnati will especially be affected by rain. Similarly, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Weather Prediction Center said that "thunderstorms may cause heavy rain with an intensity of up to one inch per hour. The risk level is 1 out of 4, meaning there is a low to moderate concern for possible flash flooding."
