On Tuesday, William Reed Business Media recognized Mexican businesswoman and chef Elena Reygadas as 'The World's Best Female Chef' in the 2023 edition of its list of The World's 50 Best Restaurants.
Reygadas managed to earn the top accolade after a vote of more than a thousand culinary experts from 27 different regions of the world. The award was given for her work in her Mexico City restaurant Rosetta. However, the chef also has three other more casual restaurants, in addition to a bakery that is just a few meters away from the famous restaurant.
"I feel deeply grateful and honored! Cooking is a collective art. This recognition is from all the very talented people with whom I have collaborated for so many years," said Reygadas.

The successful restaurant that has brought Elena Reygadas national and international fame offers specialties inspired by traditional Mexican dishes but with new perspectives.
In fact, the organization that awarded the chef highlighted dishes such as the romeritos taco, a fresh corn tamale served with smoked cream and a pistachio pipian(chili sauce); although also pointing out some Italian-influenced dishes, such as her handmade pastas.
"I am a cook in a huge city, but I like to follow nature. The world is so homogenized that it is vital for everyone to use ingredients rooted in their own territory to preserve the planet's biodiversity and culture," she commented.
Reygadas' restaurant has already been on William Reed Business Media's famous list for eight editions and the chef won the award for best chef in Latin America in 2014. She is also the author of several books and essays related to gastronomy.
