President Donald Trump confirmed that he will meet with Xi Jinping in South Korea, during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit to be held from Oct. 31 to Nov. 1.

In an interview on Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures," Trump guaranteed that he will engage in a "separate" conversation with Xi, regardless of what they talk about during the summit.

"We are going to meet in a couple of weeks. We are going to meet in South Korea, actually. ... We have [a] separate meeting set up," the president reported.

A week ago, after the communist regime made the decision to apply port tariffs on all U.S.-operated or U.S.-built ships docking at Chinese ports, Trump reacted by saying that Beijing has become "very hostile" and that it appeared that there was no reason to have a dialogue with Xi.

"Some very strange things are happening in China! They are becoming very hostile, and sending letters to Countries throughout the World, that they want to impose Export Controls on each and every element of production having to do with Rare Earths, and virtually anything else they can think of, even if it’s not manufactured in China," Trump said.

"I have not spoken to President Xi because there was no reason to do so. This was a real surprise, not only to me, but to all the Leaders of the Free World. I was to meet President Xi in two weeks, at APEC, in South Korea, but now there seems to be no reason to do so," the president added.

In addition, Trump announced that he would impose additional 100% tariffs on imports from China beginning Nov. 1 or earlier if Beijing continued to wage trade war.

Days later, however, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent took it upon himself to reduce tensions, assuring that Trump and Xi will meet in South Korea to discuss their trade policies.
