Russia sent more than 350 drones in one day, and Ukraine neutralized almost all of them with electronic jamming
This new attack by the Russian military comes two days after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, that he was "ready" to buy Patriot air defense systems, crucial to intercept Russian bombings.

Ukrainian authorities reported that at least five people were killed and more than 20 wounded Friday in a Russian shelling in the town of Samar, in the industrial region of Dnipropetrovsk, in east-central Ukraine.
"In total, the Russians killed five people," and so far 23 people were reported wounded, four of them seriously, regional Governor Sergey Lysak said on Telegram.
His earlier toll gave an account of three killed and 14 wounded in "a missile attack" in Samar, which caused a fire. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that a total of 359 Russian drones on the move and eight missiles were intercepted or neutralized on Friday alone.
This new attack by the Russian military comes two days after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, that he was "ready" to buy Patriot air defense systems, crucial to intercept Russian bombings.
Trump later replied to the press that he will evaluate whether he can supply some of them. He maintained that "they are very difficult to obtain and we need them as well."
Samar, which before the Russian invasion had about 70,000 inhabitants, is located northeast of the regional capital, Dnipro.
Russian troops are attempting to enter the Dnipropetrovsk region for the first time since the start of the invasion in February 2022.
