'Fauda' actor and singer Idan Amedi was seriously injured while fighting Hamas in Gaza
The renowned Israeli artist was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery after being hit by shrapnel.
Idan Amedi, a 35-year-old Israeli singer and actor, was seriously injured after being hit by shrapnel while fighting in the Gaza Strip, his family said Monday.
Amedi, recognized for his role as Sagi Tzur from the popular Netflix series "Fauda," was conducting military operations in Gaza as part of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) engineering corps when he was wounded.
The actor was immediately transferred to Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer and underwent surgery. He is expected to recover from his injury. According to the artist's father, although Amedi was seriously injured, his life is not in danger.
Following the news, "Fauda" creators Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff praised Amedi as a real-life hero who bravely put everything aside to join the fight and serve his country when it was needed most. "We pray for his speedy recovery and are sure he will be fine. The 'Fauda' family sends its condolences to the families," they expressed.
The "Fauda" team also shared a post through X highlighting Amedi's kindness and passion and asking the show's fans to join in wishing him a speedy recovery.
Another Fauda member was killed by Hamas
Amedi is not the only member of "Fauda" to have suffered damage during the war. Matan Meir, a member of the series' production team, was killed in November by Hamas while fighting in Gaza. Meir was a sergeant major in the IDF reserve.
"We are devastated to share that one of our Fauda family members, Matan Meir, was killed in action in Gaza. Matan was an integral crew member. The cast and crew are heartbroken by this tragic loss. We extend our condolences to Matan's family and friends. May his soul rest in peace," said "Fauda's" team after hearing the news.
