Netanyahu warns the United States: 'If we don't win now, you're next'
The Israeli prime minister insisted in an interview on Fox News that Hamas must be defeated to prevent the terrorist group from spreading the conflict to other parts of the world.
Faced with a hypothetical defeat for Israel in its conflict with Hamas, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned the United States and Europe that they could be the next to be attacked by Middle Eastern terrorist groups.
"If we don't win now, then Europe is next and you're next. And we have to win," Netanyahu said during an interview with host Sean Hannity on Fox News, adding that the war they are waging against Hamas also is also the United States' fight.
The Israeli War Cabinet shares that goal of defeating Hamas. Benny Gantz, a member of the board, said in statements reported by The Times of Israel that "we continue until our goals are achieved" even if "a ceasefire is required" to return the hostages.
In his conversation with Sean Hannity, the Israeli prime minister went further by declaring that, if they fail to defeat their enemies, "this barbarism will spread and endanger the entire world," which would cause "all civilized countries to be in danger."
Netanyahu sees the objective of the "axis of terror," in which he included Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis, among others, is bringing "the Middle East, the world, back to the Dark Ages." He insisted that Israel must win "for the sake of the Middle East, for the sake of our Arab neighbors and to protect Israel."
Criticism of pro-Hamas protesters
During his interview, Netanyahu criticized the protests in favor of Palestine. They are taking place in cities all around the world, and some of them, like those in London last weekend, have turned violent.
Regarding the pro-Palestinian demonstrations in the United States since the war in Israel began, Netanyahu pointed out that they do not represent the majority of Americans and reiterated again that they will win "for the sake of humanity":
Day 39 of the war in Israel
On the 39th day of the war, air-raid sirens sounded in several Israeli cities near the border with Gaza. In Ashkelon, a missile hit and injured two people. In Tel Aviv, three people were injured, one of them seriously, after a rocket attack carried out by Hamas.
On the other hand, Israeli authorities have already identified 859 civilians who were killed by the terrorist group on Oct. 7. In total, the total number of fatalities is around 1,200, while approximately 240 people are being held hostage by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, the United States announced a third round of sanctions against actors and entities related to Hamas. Through a statement, the Department of State (DOS) reported the penalties against "seven individuals and two entities that have provided support or acted on behalf of Hamas or Islamic Jihad," whether militarily or financially.
