Russia shells Kiev again using Iranian drones
Recent attack on the Ukrainian capital leaves at least three dead.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine continues, and the attacks continue to escalate after more than seven months of war. This Monday morning, the anti-missile sirens in Kiev sounded again at 6:30 a.m. Minutes later, two "kamikaze" drones bombed the city, killing at least three people. Kyrylo Tymoshenko, deputy head of the office of the president of Ukraine announced in a Telegram post: "So far, the number of people killed as a result of a kamikaze drone attack on a residential building increased to three. Nineteen people were rescued. Rescue works are still ongoing."
The target was a residential area, specifically a building located in the district of Shevchenko. The building caught on fire, and 19 people were rescued alive. The attack occurred just meters away from a power supply and Kiev's central train station. The explosions took place a few minutes after several night trains from Zaporiyia, Odessa and the Polish border arrived at the station, causing the train's passengers to have to seek refuge.
Russia used a Shahed-136 model drone in the attack. These drones are manufactured in Iran.
The 6:30 a.m. bombing was the first of five bombings that took place throughout the morning throughout the country. Volodymir Zelensky, president of Ukraine, commented to The Kyiv Independent:
