Barcelona beat Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup. In a match that was defined in the first half, Barcelona won 5-2 at the King Abdullah Sports City stadium in Saudi Arabia. Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, Alejandro Balde and Raphinha scored the winning goals, while Kylian Mbappe and Rodrygo scored for Madrid.

In the coaches' duel, German Hansi Flick beat Carlo Ancelotti to win his first title with Barça and in the process the first Clasico of 2025.

"It leaves us very sad and disappointed. But that's soccer and with sadness we go home. Our sadness is the sadness of the fans. We are very sorry," expressed the Italian coach, remarking that his team's match "was not good from the first to the last minute," adding that they "did not know how to find solutions."

While Real Madrid struck first, with Mbappe scoring five minutes into the match after a pass from Vinicius, Barça soon turned the score around. Yamal at 22, Lewandowski at 36, Raphinha at 39 and Balde on aggregate shaped the 4-1 first-half score.

The Brazilians shaped the result in the second half. Raphinha for Barcelona and Rodrygo with a free kick sealed the final 5-2 in Saudi Arabia.

"We play game by game and they already feel we are a big team. That's the important thing. I am very happy for the team. We have to continue together and improve," Flick celebrated after the match. The Barcelona coach said he was "proud" of his team's performance.

"What I'm most proud of is the defense. We did very well. When you only have 10 players on the field, it's not so easy to play against Real Madrid," the German added.

With this title, Barcelona has won 15 Super Cups, making them the winningest team in the competition. Indeed, they have won two of the last five editions.
