The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Charlotte Hornets 109-104 this Saturday in the NBA, fueled by Tyrese Maxey's 38 points, while Frenchman Victor Wembanyama scored 43 in the victory by San Antonio over Minnesota by a score of 121-111. The day also featured the scoring debut of Mexican player Karim López with the Memphis Grizzlies, who remain undefeated with six straight wins.

Philadelphia extends its winning streak

The 76ers, who were coming off a narrow victory over the defending champions New York Knicks in their NBA Cup debut, improved their record to six wins and one loss in seven games. Maxey, 25, recorded his second 30-point game of the season, adding four rebounds, four assists, and two steals in 38 minutes.

"This is a group of fighters," Maxey said after the game. "We're a pretty competitive team, and that's something I love about this team." With Philadelphia trailing by seven points with 3:41 left in the fourth quarter, the team went on a 13-0 run that allowed them to come back, much to the surprise of the home crowd. For the Hornets, Grayson Allen had his best game of the season with 27 points, making nine of his 12 shots, including seven three-pointers.

Wemby continues to break records

San Antonio notched its fourth straight win by defeating Minnesota thanks to a stellar performance by Wembanyama, who scored 43 points and has tallied 79 in his last two games. The 22-year-old French center, in his fourth season in the league, took 34 shots and shot 50 percent from the field—a career high.

With six blocks, Wembanyama reached 652 for his career and surpassed George Gervin for fourth place on the Spurs' all-time list, a list led by Tim Duncan with 3,020. Minnesota was without Anthony Edwards, who was out due to injury, while LaMelo Ball fouled out after 20 minutes on the court.

Karim López scores his first points of the season

Mexican Karim López scored his first NBA points in Memphis' 136-105 victory over Sacramento at the FedEx Forum. López, 19, a native of Hermosillo, played the final four minutes of a game that was already decided, where, in addition to making his only basket, he grabbed a rebound and blocked a shot.

Memphis has started the season with six straight wins and is the only undefeated team in the Western Conference. Cameron Boozer led the offense with 27 points, Isaiah Stewart added 24 off the bench, and Cam Spencer recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists.
