A wildfire in the Everglades affected much of Broward County, Fla., overnight into Wednesday morning. Although smoke abated in the early hours of the day, there were still low visibility alerts in the area.

The fire, called the Mile Marker 39 fire, has already burned 1,600 acres, Florida Forest Service said. Another fire, called the Sawgrass Fire, is 250 acres in size. Both fires remain active.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a smoke warning, saying visibility may be reduced to 5 miles or less in places where smoke is thicker.

"Smoke from the Sawgrass & Mile Marker 39 wildfires burning in the Everglades has resulted in continued low visibilities across Broward County this morning. Exercise extra caution on the roads as visibilities may vary greatly across short distances," NWS Miami wrote on X.

Traffic cameras captured the flames coming from the Everglades. The haze caused by the fire was also observed in the area of University Drive in Plantation, southbound toward Interstate 595.

Another video of the flames was taken from southbound I-95 near Sheridan Street.

The NWS also warned people most sensitive to particulate air pollution to "consider reducing your activity level or shortening the amount of time you are outdoors."
