The Department of Justice (DOJ) reported that federal authorities arrested 16 individuals and seized record amounts of fentanyl, cash, firearms, and vehicles in several states.

According to the DOJ, this operation dismantled one of the largest and most dangerous drug trafficking organizations in the nation’s history.

Attorney General Pamela Bondi stated at a press conference that authorities seized 409 kilograms of fentanyl pills and 11.5 kilograms of fentanyl powder.

Authorities also seized approximately 35 kilograms of methamphetamine, 7.5 kilograms of cocaine, and 4.5 kilograms of heroin, along with $5 million in cash and 49 rifles and handguns, according to the report.

"This historic drug seizure, led by the DEA, is a significant blow against the Sinaloa Cartel that removes poison from our streets and protects American citizens from the scourge of fentanyl," Bondi said.

As part of this operation, law enforcement executed coordinated search warrants in five states: New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Arizona, Nevada.
