Homeland Security Secretary robbed in a DC restaurant: she lost cash, keys, and her official credentials
The incident was confirmed by the official herself on Monday, during her participation in an event at the White House.

U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was the victim of a robbery in downtown Washington, D.C., while dining with her family Sunday night. The fact was confirmed by the official herself this Monday, during her participation in an event at the White House, where she assured that the case has not yet been solved.
According to police sources, the restaurant's cameras captured a man, still unidentified, wearing a medical mask, taking Noem's purse and leaving the place without being arrested. The Secret Service has already launched an investigation to determine how the incident occurred and to prevent possible misuse of the stolen items.
Sensitive items stolen
The bag contained personal items such as medication, a makeup bag, and about $3,000 in cash. But what has been of most concern is the theft of her passport, apartment keys, driver's license, blank checks, and, especially, her Department of Homeland Security access credential.
These credentials usually have additional security measures, but their disappearance poses a potential risk, so the Secret Service has opened an investigation to track any misuse of the secretary's financial instruments and official documents.
Family night ends in tension
A DHS spokesman explained that Noem had organized a family evening as part of the Easter retreat in the capital. "Her entire family was in town, including her children and grandchildren—she was using the withdrawal to treat her family to dinner, activities, and Easter gifts," he said.
So far, no details have been released about possible suspects, and authorities are still working to recover the stolen items and determine whether there was a lapse in security protocol that allowed the incident to occur despite Secret Service protection.
