Florida woman arrested for threatening insurer with repeat UnitedHealthcare crime
In a phone call with BlueCross BlueShield agents, Briana Boston, a mother of 3, repeated the words branded on the bullets that killed CEO Brian Thompson.
Police arrested a Polk County, Florida, woman accused of threatening her insurer to emulate the murder that took the life of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Briana Boston, a 42-year-old mother, is in litigation with her insurer BlueCross BlueShield from whom she is claiming unpaid claims.
According to WFLA, who reported this case, Briana Boston mentioned Thompson's murder in a call with agents from her insurer and quoted the words etched on the bullets that ended the life of the UnitedHealthcare CEO, "Delay," "Deny" and "Depose" which refer to policyholders' strategies for deferring or denying payments, reimbursements or healthcare treatments to their customers. "You people are next," she then added.
After this, officers from the Lakeland Police Department showed up at the woman's home to ask some questions regarding her phone conversation with the insurer. Following this, the officers arrested Boston.

The woman reportedly assured police officers that "the health companies gambled and deserved the karma of the world because they are evil." Boston does not own firearms and claimed to Police that she was "not a danger to anyone," WFLA reported.
However, Lakeland Department officers felt that statements made by Briana Boston to insurance agents constituted a clear threatby referencing Thompson's murder and that this is criminal.
"She's been in this world long enough to know that you can't make threats like that in the environment we live in and think we're not going to follow up and put you in jail," Lakeland Police Chief Sam Taylor said.
Boston faces charges of threats to carry out a shooting or terrorist attack. The judge overseeing his case set $100,000 bail despite the defense attorney's claim that Boston has no criminal record.
