A woman was arrested in Indianapolis and labeled a "terrorist" for crashing her car into what she thought was a Jewish school. Although there were several children and adults inside the home at the time of the incident, none were injured.

According to a police report obtained by FOX59, Ruba Almaghtheh, 34, violently drove her car in reverse toward a home that had a “Hebrew Israelite” symbol on the front door.

After the arrest, Almaghtheh admitted that she crashed the car intentionally. The woman explained to police that she felt like she “couldn't breathe anymore” after watching the news about the war between Israel and Hamas, which led her to plan the attack on the house she referred to as “Israel school.”

It is important to note that Almaghtheh actually attacked a house that is used by the Israelite School of Universal and Practical Knowledge (ISUPK), a sect of Black Hebrew Israelites designated as a “hate group” with anti-Semitic beliefs, by the Southern Poverty Law Center. However, the woman's intention remains a cause of concern for the Jewish community.

Jewish Federation issues statement after attack

The Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis issued a statement expressing concern following the attack, highlighting that although no Jewish facilities were attacked, this was only because the woman was confused.

“This is yet another reminder to maintain security protocols, remain vigilant of suspicious activity and to (report promptly) to the appropriate authorities,” the federation said.

Antisemitic violence increases

The increase in antisemitic violence has been a growing concern since the beginning of the conflict between Israel and Hamas. Recently, a group of pro-Palestinian rioters vandalized a Jewish woman's business in New York.

College campuses also appear to be hostile territory for the Jewish community due to the number of incidents that have arisen following the start of the conflict in the Middle East.

Jews buying firearms

Fear of increased violence has led the Jewish community to show more interest in acquiring firearms. In fact, gun store owners have reported seeing a tremendous increase in gun purchases, even by people who previously had no experience with guns and who had advocated for gun control. "These are mothers, teachers ... people are nervous about what’s going on and what can happen," said David Kowalsky, owner of the Florida Gun Store in Hollywood, Fla.
