VIDEO: 11-year-old boy steals a gun from a car to shoot his football teammates
The children all belong to the same Florida Pop Warner football team. The incident reportedly began when a bag of chips was taken from the shooter.
Tragedy struck on the sidelines of a Pop Warner football practice in Apopka, Fla. An 11-year-old boy shot two teammates with a firearm following a fight with the team.
In a video captured by a security camera, the minor is seen running to a vehicle, where he enters to grab something. What the boy was holding turned out to be a firearm. He turns and then fires once at a group near the vehicle.
An adult immediately approaches him and takes the gun from his grasp. The child can be seen beginning to enter the car again before the video ends. He fired one shot, which struck two other minors, one on the back and another on the arm. They are not in critical condition, according to Apopka authorities.
According to the New York Post, the vehicle belongs to the shooter's mother. It appears that a loaded firearm was found in the passenger’s side. The 11-year-old boy is a member of a youth football team, and according to the New York Post, he shot his teammates over a fight over a bag of chips.
The shooter was arrested by the Apopka Police Department and is being charged with attempted second-degree murder.
