British actor David McCallum, co-star of the popular 1960s series The Man from U.N.C.L.E., has died of natural causes at age 90 at New York Presbyterian Hospital.

McCallum, who was born in Glasgow (Scotland) in 1933, was on other successful television series such as NCIS, where he played coroner Donald Ducky Mallard.

He also acted in movies such as The Great Escape (1963) and The Greatest Story Ever Told (1965), in which he played the role of Judas Iscariot.

"He was a true Renaissance man — he was fascinated by science and culture and would turn those passions into knowledge. For example, he was capable of conducting a symphony orchestra and (if needed) could actually perform an autopsy, based on his decades-long studies for his role on NCIS," said Peter, one of his children, in a statement collected by CBS.

In addition to Peter, McCallum had four other children.
