The White House reported that President Joe Biden tested negative for COVID-19.
First Lady Jill Biden has tested positive for COVID-19. This was reported by a White House statement. She was said to have mild symptoms and will remain at her home in Rehoboth Beach, Del.
"This evening, the First Lady tested positive for COVID-19. She is currently experiencing only mild symptoms. She will remain at their home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware," the first lady's spokeswoman, Elizabeth Alexander, wrote.
Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre explained that, following the first lady's result, The president took a COVID-19 test and it came back negative. Jean-Pierre said the president will remain attentive to his symptoms.
"Following the First Lady’s positive test for COVID-19, President Biden was administered a COVID test this evening. The President tested negative. The President will test at a regular cadence this week and monitor for symptoms," Jean-Pierre said.
However, the spokeswoman did not indicate if there are changes in President Biden's agenda. The president is expected to present the Medal of Honor to an Army captain in a ceremony at the White House on Tuesday before traveling to the G20 Summit in India on Thursday.
Jill Biden tested positive for the coronavirus in August 2022. The president had a positive case in July 2022. Both recovered after experiencing mild symptoms. Both the president and first lady have received the full schedule of vaccines and boosters against the disease.
