Out of control: several immigrants attack two men in New York City
Asylum seekers threw objects at pedestrians from the door of a shelter and attacked two people for reprimanding them.
Two men were hospitalized in New York after being attacked by asylum seekers outside a New York city shelter. According to the local police report, the incident occurred when the victims tried to stop the undocumented immigrants from throwing objects at people on the sidewalk in Harlem, in the area of Central Park North and Madison Avenue.
Beaten and pushed through glass door
Police officers responded to reports of an assault and learned that a group was attacking pedestrians. The police report indicates that a 35-year-old man came out of his apartment and confronted the immigrants who proceeded to punch and kick him. They even went as far as to push him through a glass door. After the attack, he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition.
Another 41-year-old man tried to intervene in that attack and was also punched. He suffered minor injuries. He was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan, also in stable condition. Police said they arrested one person for the attack and are searching for two other suspects, according to the New York Post.
Constant disturbances caused by immigrants
A maintenance worker, who was cleaning the entrance of one of the buildings in the area, said that he has been dealing with constant disturbances caused by the immigrants staying at the shelter. A building manager from another condominium explained that the shelter lacks proper security. In addition, he claimed that despite the constant complaints, nothing has changed.
New York State Governor Kathy Hochul gave New York City Mayor Eric Adams permission to use the former Lincoln Correctional Facility to house undocumented immigrants that are being sent to the city.
