'Sound of Freedom' continues its successful run on the big screen. This weekend (July 21-23), the movie starring Jim Caviezel grossed a total of $20.1 million and remains the third most-viewed movie in theaters, according to data provided by Box Office Mojo.

The movie, which deals with the problem of pederasty worldwide, grossed a total of $125 million in the United States alone (bearing in mind that it has not been released to the rest of the world) and, as is the case with 'Barberheimer,' shows that audiences are still interested in going to theaters as long as the stories are a little more original than the sequels and live-action movies that monopolize the big screen.

In fact, 'Sound of Freedom' grossed, on certain days, more than big blockbusters such as 'Mission: Impossible - Death Reckoning Part 1' or 'Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.' An example of this was on Thursday, July 20. On that day, the movie managed to make $3,702,736 at the box office. Tom Cruise's movie grossed slightly less that day at $3,443,841. On Friday the 21st, Saturday the 22nd and Sunday the 23rd, 'Sounds of Freedom' just barely beat the blockbuster, holding on to third place behind only 'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer,' the week's premieres.

There have been days when 'Sound of Freedom' grossed more than Indiana Jones. For example, on July 4, 'Sound of Freedom' grossed $14,242,063 while Indiana Jones only earned $11,698,989.

'Sound of Freedom' is not a part of Hollywood strike

'Sound of Freedom' also managed to avoid the crisis that has crippled the country's entertainment industry. This is somewhat strange considering that Jim Caviezel belongs to the SAG-AFTRA Screen Actors Guild, which is currently on strike.

However, the 'Sound of Freedom' star is promoting the movie, despite the fact that among the orders given to performers is that they are not to carry out any kind of promotion. He explained to Fox News host Sean Hannity that since the movie is crowdfunded and owned by independent production company Angel Studios, he is able to participate in promotional events:

Those are my brothers and sisters of SAG. I support them, but we are not a part of the collective bargaining agreement with AMPTP. We wanted to be, but they didn’t want any part of this film.
