'Sound of Freedom' dominates the box office and remains one of the most-watched films in theaters
The feature film starring Jim Caviezel grossed nearly $85.5 million domestically in its first two weeks.
The film that criticizes child trafficking and pedophilia, "Sound of Freedom," is proving to be a box office success across the nation. According to the latest data provided by the specialized website Box Office Mojo, the feature film starring Jim Caviezel has managed to gross a total of $85,498,581 in its first two weeks in the United States. Between Friday and Sunday, it earned close to $27 million.
This weekend, it was the second most-watched film in theaters behind only the seventh installment of "Mission: Impossible," "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1." The Tom Cruise film managed to pocket nearly $56.2 million this weekend, swelling its gross to $80,003,550 domestically and $235,000,550 overall (including international sales).
'Sound of Freedom' has success at the box office
The film's success is nothing new. During its second weekend, box office results were also quite high. The feature film starring Jim Caviezel grossed $19.7 million in theaters nationwide and was the third most-watched film, second only to "Insidious: The Red Door" (more than $45 million) and "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" (about $38.7 million). However, the feature film set on exposing the pedophilia crisis outperformed both films seven days later.
The good box office figures also led "Sound of Freedom" to achieve a new milestone. With only two weeks in theaters, the film has become the eighteenth highest-grossing film in the nation so far this year, ranking behind big-budget films such as "The Flash," "Elemental" and "Fast X," but beating other films such as "Cocaine Bear" and "80 for Brady" by a wide margin.
