The Trump administration has developed a new training course on the Constitution for government employees who want to become part of the Senior Executive Service (SES), the most senior group of government officials.
According to a release from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), obtained by RealClearPolitics (RCP), the curriculum includes subjects based on the U.S. Constitution and Trump's executive orders.
The course requires 80 hours of training with videos and culminates in two days of classroom training in Washington, D.C. The program will be in effect beginning next September and will be exclusively aimed at government employees.
According to the OPM press release, the objective is: "To ensure that SES officials uphold the Constitution and the Rule of Law and effectively serve the American people."
Also, in this course, DEI policies have been completely abolished. The statement adds that new hires will be based on merit, competence and "dedication to our nation's founding ideals."
According to RCP, this is another effort by the Trump administration to end what the White House considers an unaccountable administrative state.
In the eyes of the Trump administration, SES officials are part of the bureaucracy that slowed down his administration's agenda during his first term, refusing to implement his government policies.
What is the role of the Senior Executive Service?
These officials share a broad perspective of government and a commitment to public service based on the Constitution.
