After tycoon Elon Musk and President Donald Trump starred in an event at the White House to promote Tesla electric cars, it was revealed that the world's richest man and presidential adviser is looking to invest $100 million in the president's political operation.

According to the New York Times, after some cabinet members and top White House advisers allegedly discussed privately with Musk over his aggressive approach to cuts through DOGE, the mogul relayed to presidential advisers that he wants to donate $100 million to an outside entity related to Trump's political operation to prove his loyalty and that he knows how to be a team player.

The revelation comes just days after Musk traveled back and forth to Florida aboard Air Force One with Trump. He posted on social media that he had dinner with Secretary of State Marco Rubio Saturday night after they had a discussion during a cabinet meeting held last week.

In that meeting, President Trump praised Rubio's work and urged the billionaire to serve as an adviser and listen to the secretaries of the federal government as DOGE makes recommendations for spending cuts.

According to the NYT, it is an "unprecedented" occurrence for a White House staffer to make such high political contributions to support the president's agenda, even if Musk's case is part-time and serving in an advisory role.

However, it is also true that the work and case of Musk, the wealthiest person in the world, is unique, as he is dedicated to leading DOGE. This department operates externally to the White House and seeks to make massive cuts in the government.

According to the report, Musk's idea is to invest beyond his own super PAC, America PAC, with which he notably supported Trump's presidential campaign.

According to the NYT's sources, in recent days, Trump and Musk's associates have discussed the donation going to a president-controlled entity.

Particularly, the groups leading Trump's outside political activities that could benefit from Musk's donation are Make America Great Again Inc., a super PAC, and Securing American Greatness, a political nonprofit.

The NYT reported that close allies of Trump created both MAGA Inc. and Securing American Greatness and have a wide variety of major donors backing the president.
