The Department of Justice, led by Attorney General Pam Bondi, released a series of documents about child molester Jeffrey Epstein that, aside from pointed details, disappointed the public by containing no new information about the controversial case.

his afternoon, the White House raised expectations by handing out voluminous binders to conservative commentators titled "Epstein Files: Phase 1." At the time, there was speculation that the Trump administration would release unpublished details about the case, including the infamous list of Epstein's clients. However, there was no such declassification.

Instead, the documents reveal flight records, a contact book and a list of evidence about the case. All details that had already been revealed in the past during Ghislaine Maxwell's federal criminal trial, Epstein's accomplice and mistress who is now serving prison time.

The documents also contain an extensive list of redacted masseuses, presumed to be Epstein's victims. In it are 254 names.

The Department of Justice released the Epstein contact list n Thursday. Among the famous names on the list are Mick Jagger, the front man of the Rolling Stones; Michael Jackson; Alec Baldwin; Ethel Kennedy, the mother of Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.; former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo; Naomi Campbell; and Courtney Love.

Also mentioned are Bob Weinstein, brother of Harvey Weinstein, David Koch, the late Senator Ted Kennedy, actor Ralph Fiennes, Kerry Kennedy, lawyer Alan Dershowitz, John Kerry, actor Dustin Hoffman, businessman Jon Huntsman, Ivana Trump, Ivanka Trump and model Liz Hurley.

However, most people mentioned in these disclosed documents had previously been named in other declassifications. Moreover, none of these individuals have been charged with wrongdoing, as it is common knowledge that Epstein was heavily involved in public relations, having repeatedly contacted political figures, celebrities and big businessmen.

The aforementioned individuals who did face criminal charges have also been revealed in the past. One is Prince Andrew, who has denied the allegations against him and another is the late Jean-Luc Brunel, a French modeling agent who, like Epstein, died in prison while awaiting trial.

The other person named and charged is Maxwell herself.

DOJ criticized for failing to meet expectations

The records released by the DOJ drew harsh criticism from some conservative commentators on social media.

"The 'Epstein Files: Phase 1' release wasn't just a lot of what we already know, in some cases it appears to be less than what we already know," independent journalist Kyle Becker wrote.

"If the FBI NY & SDNY released redacted information that was previously unredacted, this is definitely a red flag. It also means this information should have been more thoroughly vetted. The FBI should get serious and hit these officials with "obstruction of justice" charges if they keep it up. This is unacceptable, no matter how you cut it," the reporter said.

The conservative satirical media outlet The Babylon Bee also criticized the scant information presented in the documents.

"Breaking: A Black Bar Visited Epstein Island Hundreds Of Times," one of its headlines read.

Other independent journalists, such as Anthony Cabassa, reported a lack of coordination between Attorney General Pam and the White House in releasing the documents.

"White House has been doing damage control on behalf of AG Bondi since," Cabassa wrote on X, citing internal White House sources.

Was the Trump administration duped?

This afternoon, ahead of the official declassification, Attorney General Bondi wrote a stern letter to FBI Director Kash Patel, claiming that the FBI's New York Field Office is withholding hundreds of pages from the Epstein case requested by herself.

In the letter, Bondi ordered the FBI to turn over all documents to her office as soon as possible, and further ordered Patel to thoroughly investigate why this agency office is withholding information.

Host Liz Wheeler gave force to this version on X, asserting that the FBI Office and the Southern District Court of New York misled the Trump administration by giving it documents without substantial information to the public.
