Around 20,000 federal employees have reportedly benefited from severance package

This is a significant number of people (about 1% of the federal workforce). The severance proposal is available until Thursday, so the number could still go up.

A senior Trump administration official explained that about 20,000 federal workers accepted the severance offer submitted by the government last week.

Although this is a significant number of people (about 1% of the federal workforce), it is less than the White House target of 5-10%.

"We expect more to come. If you see what's happening at USAID, it's just one piece of the puzzle," the official said in a conversation with Axios.

In the meantime, the severance proposal is available until Thursday, so the number could still increase. The severance entitles federal employees to stop working as soon as possible and continue to receive their pay through Sept. 30.

Hiring freeze

Similarly, it was learned that in addition to the resignations, the administration is still trying to implement a hiring freeze. However, this has been complicated by the fact that there are agencies that continue to hire new employees.
