This Sunday, the Biden Administration admitted that it has no way of knowing if the American hostages held by the terrorist group Hamas are still alive.

In an appearance on ABC's program "This Week," U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said it is impossible to be sure of the number of hostages Hamas is holding. What is certain is that nine American citizens and one legal permanent resident are in "missing" status, according to information provided by Israeli Intelligence.

"We do not know the precise number of hostages. We know the number of missing, and that's the number the Israelis have given, but we don't know how many of those are still alive," Sullivan told ABC. "As far as Americans are concerned, there are nine missing American citizens as well as a missing legal permanent resident--a green card holder."

So far, the number of "missing" people who were kidnapped and are now being held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip stands at 239.

Sullivan also commented during the conversation that he will meet with relatives of the missing Americans later this week.

The national security advisor was also asked about Hamas' claims that Israel may have killed hostages for its air retaliation against the terrorist group.

Sullivan stated that while Hamas' reports cannot be trusted, they also have no way to confirm or deny reports from the Palestinian health authority that the terrorist group runs.
