The Vera Institute, an organization linked to far-left tycoon George Soros, is taking 172 million in public funds to fight the deportation of illegal immigrants. The figure, revealed by Fox News, suggests that government aid could rise to 1 billion in the next few years.
The funds will be used to provide lawyers to unaccompanied alien minors to prevent their deportation. The federal contract with the Biden administration is for $171.6 million through 2023, but could reach nearly $1 billion (983) if renewed through 2027. Vera Institute aims to end what they call "mass incarceration." To this end, they are committed to reducing the number of prisons and detention centers in the country. The group has also shown support for other radical proposals such as defunding the police.
This taxpayer-funded contract adds to a long list of concessions. Of the $191 million that the Vera Institute took in between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021, $152 million came from government sources. In addition, as Breitbart reported in 2018, the Soros-linked group previously received $310 million from the Obama administration to help illegals avoid deportation.
Millions rained down in the midst of the migration crisis
The million-dollar contract for the Vera Institute coincides with a gigantic border crisis. According to Customs and Border Protection, there were an average of 692 minors in the agency's custody in May. There have been more than 100,000 encounters with unaccompanied minors in fiscal year 2022, which began in October, compared with 147,925 in 2021 and 33,239 in 2020.
So far this year we are approaching 1,000 deaths at the U.S.-Mexico crossing. The United Nations International Organization for Migration notes in its latest report that 2021 more than 1,238 lives were lost during migration to the Americas. At least 728 of these deaths occurred at the border crossing between the two countries.
In the south of the country there is a talk of "border invasion" and, for some time, they have been warning from border control of the situation and criticizing the Biden administration for "working for chaos and anarchy" in a border controlled by traffickers. The government's response is to add fuel to the fire through public funds that encourage illegals to continue flocking to the country.
