50 Cent criticizes soft on crime policies: "LA is finished"

The rapper reacted to the reinstatement of a measure eliminating bail for people who commit misdemeanors, "Look how bad it gets out there."

50 Cent expressed his concern about the crime crisis in Los Angeles and stated that the city "is finished."

On Instagram, the rapper warned that the situation will worsen after the reinstatement of a measure that prevents police from arresting any offender who has committed misdemeanors or non-violent felonies. In addition, the order also eliminates the bail payment system for those offenses:

LA is finished look how bad it gets out there. SMH [shaking my head].

The zero bail policy in L.A.

The measure known as the Los Angeles Zero-Bail Policy was imposed by county officials during the COVID-19 pandemic. They used the pretext of alleviating the pressure that existed at that time in jails, which were full of criminals.

The order expired in July 2022, but Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lawrence Riff ruled the traditional cash bail system unconstitutional and reinstated the rule.

The policy, which has been compared to that carried out in New York, not only eliminates bail for anyone who has been charged with a misdemeanor or non-violent felony, but also grants release to inmates who were already in prison for crimes such as vandalism, shoplifting, drug possession and theft.

The application of the measure in previous years resulted in an increase in violent crimes by repeat offenders.
