One of the most popular movie sagas of recent years, "Karate Kid," is making a return. Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio will serve as the main attractions of the feature film. The two appeared in a video in which they announced that the new film, which will be released on Dec. 13, 2024, is looking for "the next Karate Kid" to star in the new movie. To do this, they assured, they will hold a global casting in which they invited all young actors interested in starring in the film to send their audition videos to the following web address:

Chan and Macchio will also return to this new installment produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment, which will be directed by Jonathan Entwistle and written by Rob Lieber. Macchio will once again step into the shoes of Daniel LaRusso, the karate champion trained by Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) in the first film, released in 1984, as well as in the two subsequent sequels, which hit the big screen in 1986 and 1989.
Jackie Chan is also back. The Chinese actor will reprise his role as the Mr. Han, the kung fu master who helped Dre Parker (played by Jaden Smith) defend himself from the bullies who attacked him in the remake that Sony released in 2010 titled "The Karate Kid."
The details of this new film, Variety reveals, are still being kept behind closed doors, although several sources close to the film assure that it will continue the story from the original franchise.
