Lakewood Church shooter identified as Genesse Ivonne Moreno

According to several media outlets, the attacker was born with another the name: Jeffrey Escalante Moreno.

The latest information indicates that the Lakewood Church shooter has been identified as Genesse Ivonne Moreno. This was reported by the Houston Chronicle after it obtained a copy of a search warrant from police. Other media outlets such as Fox News pointed out that Moreno was born a man under the name Jeffrey Escalante Moreno. A native of El Salvador, Moreno used a rifle with the word "Palestine" written on it.

Although preliminary reports indicated that Moreno was transgender, investigators eventually identified her as a woman and the biological mother of a 7-year-old child.

According to records, Moreno has a long criminal record with previous convictions for assaulting authorities (2009) and falsifying documents (2010). Authorities continue to investigate the motives that led the attacker attempt to perpetrate a massacre at Lakewood Church.

The attack occurred this Sunday during a Spanish-language service. The shooter entered the megachurch armed with an AR-15 rifle accompanied by a five-year-old child. She also said she was carrying a bomb. Before she could go on a killing spree, two off-duty police officers responded and shot her, killing her on the spot. The child was wounded in the process and is in critical condition. Emergency services reported another injured person who has already been discharged from the hospital.
