Texas police arrest 28 for child trafficking, 19 minors rescued

"Operation Hydra," which was conducted over several months, resulted in the arrest of several suspects from as many as 17 states.

The movie "Sound of Freedom" highlighted the real problem with the worldwide child trafficking crisis, which, unfortunately, continues to be present. This Monday, for instance, Texas police arrested 28 people for pedophilia and released 19 minors who were trapped in a child trafficking ring.

It did so thanks to "Operation Hydra," a police operation that took place over several months, which resulted in the arrest of several suspects from as many as 17 states. Thanks to this operation, it was possible to rescue more than 19 children who had ended up in a child trafficking network where illegal material of minors was uploaded to the Internet. This was announced by the Montgomery County (TX) District Attorney's Office in a press release:

During “Operation Hydra,” detectives rescued 19 children who had been sexually abused or exploited. Authorities identified, charged, and arrested 28 individuals with crimes related to the sexual exploitation of children. These defendants were from 17 states and made child sexual abuse material available in Montgomery County.

Child trafficking, a problem still present in the world

An operation that, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office said in the statement, demonstrates the real problem that exists with the child trafficking crisis in the world and that the movie starring Jim Caviezel also highlighted:

This operation is a stark reminder of the realities of child sexual exploitation and the proliferation of child sexual abuse material on the internet, and the need for proactive measures to address these crimes against our children.

The feature film was also lightly referenced by Assistant District Attorney Chris Seufert. He wanted to recognize the work of his police forces whom he thanked for their constant work to fight against pedophilia:

Heroes aren't only in movies. Right here in Montgomery County, real-life heroes are tirelessly fighting for our children's safety. To those who harm the innocent, beware, we will do whatever it takes to find those who harm the innocent.

A statement agreed with by District Attorney Brett Ligon, who used the statement to remind citizens of how pedophiles take advantage of the Internet to find minors:

The Internet allows child predators access and abuse children worldwide. My message to child abusers is clear: I don’t care where you are. If you make these images available in my county or put children at risk, we will find you, and you will face justice.
