Hunter Biden believes staying sober is vital for his father to continue in the White House

According to the president's son, American democracy is at stake and, and he will be a determining factor.

Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, stated during an interview with Axios that he will play a crucial role in the presidential campaign in the 2024 general election.

During the conversation, which Axios described as a “rare interview,” Hunter said that his sobriety is vital for his father to win the election, as this would avoid the increasingly incessant scrutiny of congressional Republicans and also a larger scandal around to his problematic private life.

“Most importantly, you have to believe that you're worth the work, or you'll never be able to get sober. But I often do think of the profound consequences of failure here,” Hunter said of his sobriety.

“Maybe it's the ultimate test for a recovering addict — I don't know,” he continued. “I have always been in awe of people who have stayed clean and sober through tragedies and obstacles few people ever face. They are my heroes, my inspiration.”

And, finally, he stated that “have something much bigger than even myself at stake. We are in the middle of a fight for the future of democracy.”

In recent years, since the controversial contents of Hunter Biden's lost laptop in a Delaware repair shop were leaked, conservative media have revealed details about the president's son's private life, including his problem with drug use, family problems and also potential federal crimes.

Likewise, the president's son's businesses have been under public scrutiny, especially from House Republicans who are investigating Hunter Biden for influence peddling and money laundering.

Joe Biden's alleged involvement in his son's businesses is also being investigated. Before arriving at the White House, the president had said publicly that he did not know the details and was not involved in Hunter's business dealings.

However, some former associates of Hunter Biden claimed that the president met with or had knowledge of his son's business dealings. Likewise, Politico reported that President Biden even indirectly benefited from his family's businesses.

In addition to the Republican investigations, Hunter Biden has been formally charged with nine tax crimes in California, which are divided into six misdemeanors and three felonies that could lead to him spending time in prison.

Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty to all charges.
