Four female Pepperdine University students were hit by a 22-year-old driver while walking on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California.

The man, who was identified by Police as Fraser Michael Bohm, was driving a BMW car at excessive speed which led him to lose control of the car. It crashed into several parked vehicles and then ran over the group of women.

The students were identified by university authorities as Niamh Rolston, Peyton Stewart, Asha Weir and Deslyn Williams. In a statement, the educational institution stated that it regrets "the loss of four Seaver College students." Pepperdine President Jim Gash said:

To the students who loved, lived, and were in community with the deceased members of our Pepperdine family, my heart is broken like yours. I join you in your grief as we process this profound loss.

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department stated in a press conference that Bohm had been arrested on the charge of "vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence." However, he was released due to lack of evidence, Fox 11 reported. The investigation is ongoing.
