Bayern Munich reported Wednesday that renowned former German soccer player Andreas Brehme had died. He was 63 years old.
"Andreas Brehme will forever be in our hearts, as a World Cup winner and, more importantly, as a very special person. He will forever be part of the FC Bayern family. Rest in peace, Andi!" the team wrote on their X account.
According to The Sun, the cause of death was cardiac arrest. The media outlet explained that Brehme was admitted to the Ziemssenstraße clinic after suffering a heart attack.

Brehme scored Germany's winning goal in the World Cup final against Argentina with a penalty kick in 1990.

In his club career, Brehme played for Saarbrucken, Kaiserslautern, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Zaragoza.
