Israel claims responsibility for death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh
The Israeli defense minister acknowledged that his country was behind the operation carried out on July 31 in Tehran and issued a threat to Houthi terrorists in Yemen, who have recently carried out a series of attacks against Israel.
Israel officially claimed credit for killing of Ismail Haniyeh, leader of Hamas' political bureau, after nearly five months of the operation carried out in Tehran, Iran, which took the terrorist leader's life.
The statements were made by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz during an event recognizing military security coordinators in rural communities.
The official used the occasion to, in addition, send a warning to the Huthis, the Iranian-backed terrorists in Yemen, who recently launched attacks with missiles and drones on the Jewish state, some of which were answered by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in a series of attacks that included for the first time Sana'a, the Yemeni capital.
"We will attack the strategic infrastructures of the Houthi terrorist organization and eliminate its leaders, exactly as we did Haniyeh, [Hamas leader in Gaza Yahya] Sinwar and [Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan] Nasrallah, in Tehran, Gaza and Lebanon. We will do the same in [Yemeni cities] Hodeida and Sana'a."
"In these days, when the Houthi terrorist organization fires missiles at Israel, I want to send them a clear message from the beginning of my words: we defeated Hamas, we defeated Hezbollah, we blinded the defense systems in Iran and hit their production capabilities; we destabilized the regime of [Bashar] al-Asad in Syria, we hit the axis of evil hard, and we will also hit the last one standing: the Houthi terrorist organization in Yemen," Katz added.
"Whoever raises his hand against Israel, his hand will be cut off, and the long arm of the Israel Defense Forces will reach out and bring him to account," the minister warned.
Netanyahu vowed to continue offensives against the Houthis
Israeli newspaper Ynet reported that the Jewish state's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged Israel's citizens to be patient and stressed that his country is not alone in the fight against terrorism, hinting at the possibility that the United States and its allies will step up their attacks against the Houthis.
Netanyahu further vowed that Israel will continue to attack Houthi terrorists in Yemen.
