The war in Israel continues, with citizens witnessing their lives change in just 24 hours. One of the most affected towns was Sderot, near the Gaza Strip. Mayor Alon Davidi promptly reported on the situation through his Facebook account. In one of his latest updates, the mayor assured that terrorists could still be found in Sderot while he warned residents to stay in their homes with the doors and windows closed.

Meanwhile, images continued to circulate on social media, and one of the videos that went viral featured several soldiers patrolling the streets while looking for the terrorists who were loose in the streets.

The military intervention was a direct response to the request made, hours before, by some inhabitants of Sderot. One of them managed to speak with Spanish newspaper El Mundo and shared his frustration in a phone call with the outlet: "There are numerous terrorists here! I have never seen anything like this. Where are our soldiers?"

Meanwhile, a Channel 12 reporter said in statements reported by Times of Israel that there were many "bodies on the ground... terribly serious images, scenes difficult to describe." These corpses, the reporter assured, are "victims of the shooting caused by Hamas terrorists who infiltrated the city from Gaza."

Israeli citizens kidnapped in Gaza

The outlook has not seemed to improve. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that they were aware that several people had been taken hostage by Hamas terrorists and had been transferred to Gaza.

In addition, IDF spokesman, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, reported that several Israeli soldiers had died in combat. Meanwhile, he assured, the counteroffensive continues, and there are 22 combat sites underway in southern Israel, including hostage conflicts in Be'eri and Ofakim.

Although the situation is especially serious in the south of the country, the center is also under alert. Cora, an Argentinian woman who lives with her Israeli husband in Ramat Gan near Tel Aviv, explained to Voz Media that up to four sirens sounded warning of danger early on Saturday in her town. However, it seemed that the worst there had already passed: "Now everything is quiet here, but in the south... it is horror."
