The Minnesota Vikings have received a wave of criticism, mainly from their own fan base, for a controversial decision they have made. The NFL franchise has announced the addition of two men to its cheerleading squad, something that has not been well received among followers of the team.

Through a video posted on social media, the Vikings welcomed their "next generation of cheer," which includes two men. The move completely breaks with a tradition in the NFL and in sports in general to align with the woke agenda.

"The next generation of cheer has arrived!" the franchise posted.

Soon social media erupted, and Vikings fans began to show their disapproval of the decision. "I am not a Vikings fan no more," user @donbrandonnn reacted to the video posted by the team on Instagram.

"I just lost all of my respect for the Vikings," wrote @coltonarrand_. "As a Vikings fan, I hope we don't win a single game," said user @derek.varin.

Other users joked about what they had just seen in the video and linked one of the two men on the Vikings cheerleading squad to a well-known Minnesota Democrat. "Tim Walz's son?" asked @79polishprince.

Vikings aren't the first

It turns out the Vikings aren't the only NFL franchise to have men on their cheerleading squad.

For example, nearly one-third of the Baltimore Ravens' cheerleaders are men (18 of 50), as listed on their website.

Other franchises that also count men among their cheerleaders include the Los Angeles Rams, the New Orleans Saints, the Philadelphia Eagles, the San Francisco 49ers and the Tennessee Titans.
