With a blistering home run in the final inning, Dominican Jasson Dominguez gave the New York Yankees a 4-3 win over the Texas Rangers in Wednesday’s Major League Baseball action.
The young Dominguez, who has already starred in several key victories this season, decided the game in the bottom of the ninth inning, which was tied at three runs.
Facing reliever Luke Jackson, the Dominican smashed a home run to clinch the win, sparking cheers from the 40,000 fans at Yankee Stadium and earning high-fives from his teammates on the field.
The first home run "is always special," Dominguez later said.
El Marciano, as he is also known, hesitated to rank this play among his most special moments with the Yankees.
Less than two weeks ago, the 22-year-old became the youngest player in the iconic franchise’s history to hit three home runs in a single game.
In September 2003, at age 20, he was also the youngest Yankees player to hit a home run in his debut game.
On their side, the Los Angeles Dodgers, reigning champions of Major League Baseball, defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-1 thanks to a three-run homer by fellow Dominican Teoscar Hernández in the sixth inning.
Ketel Marte opened the scoring for Arizona with a home run in the fourth inning, bringing his Major League career total to 150.
