An autographed jersey worn by Michael Jordan with the Chicago Bulls during a preseason game in his rookie year was auctioned for $4.215 million at Sotheby's.
The NBA, based on information reported by Sotheby's, said through its website that Jordan wore this jersey on October 5, 1984, during a prep game played in Illinois. That year, he was selected by the Bulls in the draft.
The name of the new owner is unknown.
Considered one of the best basketball players of all time, Jordan spent almost his entire career with the Bulls. Durinig his time with the franchise, to which he belonged from the 84/85 to 92/93 season and from 94/95 to 97/98, he won six Rings (1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997 and 1998), being named MVP in all of those six Finals. He then played for the Washington Wizards for two seasons.
With the national team, Jordan won two Olympic gold medals (Los Angeles 1984 and Barcelona 1992). In his NBA career he averaged 30.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.
