Djokovic and Alcaraz head to the round of 16 at the Australian Open
In the women's draw, Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff did not drop a set against their rivals and advanced to the next round. Jessica Pegula said goodbye to the tournament.

Carlos Alcaraz celebrates his victory against Nuno Borges
We could see one of the best tennis duels of today in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. But first, Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz will have to get rid of their rivals in the round of 16, a round they advanced to after clinching victory in their last games.
In the third round, the Serb -number 7 in the ATP ranking and male tennis player with the most Grand Slams in history- easily overcame the Czech Tomas Machac in three sets (6-1, 6-4 and 6-4).
Although he encountered virtually no opposition, Djokovic required the assistance of the physiotherapist in the second set due to shortness of breath. A setback that didn't condition him for the rest of the match.
"Honestly, I think I played very well, I'm very happy with the match, I'm even surprised by the result, to win in three sets. He crumbled in the second set and I had physical problems, but I was able to manage it," the Serb said.
Alcaraz drops his first set at the Australian Open
In the round of 16, Djokovic will face fellow Czech Jiri Lehecka. If he defeats him, the Serb could face Alcaraz in the quarterfinals, as long as the Spanish tennis player is still in the Australian Open, and will be one of the most anticipated clashes of the tournament.
What is certain is that Alcaraz will play in the round of 16. The world number 3 advanced to the round after beating Portugal's Nuno Borges (6-2, 6-4, 6-7, 6-2).
That set won by the Borges is the first the Spaniard has dropped in this edition of the Australian Open. He didn’t hesitate to acknowledge his mistakes in the third set and praise his opponent.
"Borges has played at his level, which is very high. He has a lot of talent. It is clear that I could have played better. I made mistakes that I didn't have to make," said Alcaraz.
Who also advanced to the round of 16 was Alexander Zverev. The German, world No. 2, brought out his talent and swept Britain's Jacob Fearnley in three sets (6-3, 6-4, 6-4). The other players who made it to the next round were American Tommy Paul, Frenchman Ugo Humbert and Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
Sabalenka and Gauff progress; Pegula eliminated
In the women's draw, two of the big favorites, Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff, advanced to the round of 16 of the Australian Open after easily defeating their rivals.
In the case of the Belarusian, number one in the WTA ranking, she beat Danish player Clara Tauson (7-6 and 6-4) on the road and continues without dropping a single set in this edition of the first Grand Slam of the year. For her part, the American - who is keeping pace with Sabalenka and has also not lost a single set so far in the tournament - defeated Canadian Leylah Fernandez (6-4, 6-2).
One of Gauff's compatriots, Jessica Pegula, ended her participation in the Australian Open with a surprise loss to Serbia's Olga Danilovic (7-6, 6-1).
Other players who managed to advance were Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, Russia's Mirra Andreeva and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Croatia's Donna Vekic and Spain's Paula Badosa.
