Colorado: Nine alleged Tren de Aragua members indicted for terrorizing Aurora residents
Suspects face charges including second-degree kidnapping, first-degree assault, aggravated robbery, second-degree burglary, extortion and threats.
Authorities formally charged nine of 16 suspects in violent kidnappings at the Edge of Lowy apartments in Aurora. The individuals allegedly belong to the feared Venezuelan gangknown as Tren de Aragua.
The nine defendants were arrested and taken into federal immigration custody following the armed home invasion and kidnapping of a Venezuelan couple on Dec. 17, 2024, which was described by authorities as "torture." The other seven arrestees remain under investigation.
According to media outlets such as ABC7 Denver, the suspects face charges including second-degree kidnapping, first-degree assault, aggravated robbery, second-degree trespassing, extortion and threats.
Meanwhile, it was learned that the subjects were identified as Andres Alexander Liendo-Padilla, 26; Javier Alejandro Alvarado Parada, 24; Jesus Alberto Alejos Escalona, 22; Junior Reyes-Barrios, 28; Barbara Sivle Medina-Arcaya, 29; Donarkys Teresa Suarez-Quesada, 31; Luigi Javier Soto-Sucre, 26; Niefred Jose Serpa-Acosta, 20; Jengrinso Elias Loreto-Petit, 26.
In that regard, the Police explained that Serpa-Acosta was already wanted on an active arrest warrant for robbery and threats. That arrest warrant would be related to the events that occurred on August 18 in which armed men were seen knocking on the doors of the Edge of Lowry apartments.
The situation occurred, according to ABC7, "10 minutes before 25-year-old Oswaldo Jose Dabion Araujo was shot at the complex. He later died from his injuries."
In the images, which went viral on social networks, men can be seen climbing a staircase carrying weapons and are heard speaking Spanish. The situation was denounced by city councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky.
