Marjorie Taylor Greene calls for death penalty for Guatemalan man accused of setting woman on fire on the subway
Sebastian Zapeta was arrested by the NYPD and faces charges for the murder of the female passenger on the subway car.
Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was not indifferent to the latest events in New York after a Guatemalan immigrant was charged with setting fire to a subway car and burning a woman to death.
The Republican published a message on social media to declare that the accused, Sebastian Zapeta, deserves nothing more than the death penalty, without even wasting time in a judicial process.
The representative, known for her controversial and radical positions within the party assured: "Death penalty, do not waste money on a long trial. Convict him and be done with him. What he did is so unbelievably evil. I can't watch the video anymore. And how it looks like no one tried to save her is beyond me."
The NYPD's open investigation noted at a press conference that Zapeta allegedly "used what we believe to be a lighter to set fire to the victim's clothing, which was completely engulfed in a matter of seconds." Assistant US Attorney Ari Rottenberg alleged in court Tuesday that the suspect fanned the fire with a shirt.
