Shooting at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas leaves 3 victims and one suspect dead
Sheriff Kevin McMahill said the number of injured could increase. He added that there are no additional threats to the community at this time.
This Wednesday, police responded to an active shooter at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) that left three victims, according to preliminary reports from authorities.
The officers also assured that the suspect was located and killed.
First, UNLV posted on X that police were responding to an active shooter at Frank and Estella Beam Hall, home of the Lee Business School.
As the hours passed, UNLV gave minute-by-minute updates on the situation while asking its students to continue taking shelter from the threats while the police continued to respond and systematically clear buildings.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department finally announced the death of the suspect and also that, for the moment, there are no more threats to the student community.
“No more threat to the community. The suspect is deceased. Right now, we know there are 3 victims, but unknown extent of the injuries. That number could change. We will update you when we know more,” said Sheriff Kevin McMahill.
UNLV and all educational institutions in southern Nevada announced they would be closed for the rest of the day. All classes and events have been canceled.
