Harris County Police in Houston, Texas, have arrested a 20-year-old man for driving with a 12-year-old child hanging on to the roof of his SUV. A sheriff's deputy quickly proceeded to immobilize the vehicle and arrest the driver, who has been charged with child endangerment.

Detected 'red-handed' by an assistant who was responding to another notice

The offender was discovered when a patrol moved to break up an illegal vehicle event in a parking lot. While they were carrying out their mission, an assistant observed the vehicle with the child hanging from the roof, he intervened and stopped the car immediately due to the risk that it would access the Gulf Highway and the minor could potentially suffer serious life threatening injuries if he were to be thrown off the car.

After his arrest, the offender was charged with endangering the life of a child. The Police requested a bail of $50,000 for for him, which was finally set at $40,000. As it is a felony, the driver could face prison time and a fine of up to $10,000, according to Sheriff Jerry García.
