The end of progressive hospitality: no longer want immigrants in their homes

The arrival of illegals at destinations like Martha's Vineyard, home to the rich and famous, sparked nervousness in the Democratic ranks. The immigrants were expelled just one day after their arrival.

The island of Martha's Vineyard (Massachusetts) saw its tranquility disturbed after the arrival of two planes with immigrants sent from Florida by Governor Ron DeSantis. The summer resort of the rich and famous - including Democratic presidential families such as the Obamas and Clintons - is reported to be experiencing a humanitarian crisis after the arrival of just 50 illegals to this "place of rest and relaxation," as the island defines its own website.

After denouncing this humanitarian crisis, barely a day after their arrival, the immigrants were expelled from the island. According to local media reports, the immigrants were transferred to Cape Cod, more than 40 miles from the millionaires' resting place. They were transported in buses provided by the federal and local administrations.

Martha's Vineyard homeless shelter coordinator Lisa Belcastro denounced the "challenge" that the arrival of these immigrants poses for Martha's Vineyard, noting that the island does not have the capacity to accommodate them, so they would have to go elsewhere.

The situation in Martha's Vineyard has little to do with that of the border states. Texas or Arizona experience every day the arrival of hundreds of immigrants -five million since Biden has been president- without the Administration responding to the requests for help coming from these states. Biden's inaction on the border prompted border states to begin sending buses to so-called sanctuary states; those that claim to be a haven for illegals.

However, the reality is quite different. Now these sanctuary states - governed by Democrats - are experiencing on their territory the difficulty of welcoming the sudden arrival of these immigrants and are asking for help from the Administration by declaring states of emergency. These attitudes were described as "hypocritical" by the states that have been denouncing the situation on the border for months.

Many citizens also criticized the change in attitude of communities such as Martha's Vineyard, which always boasted of "Stand with immigrants" and now claims that they have no place there.

Biden calls for end to sending illegals to Democratic states

President Joe Biden on Thursday called on Republican governors to stop sending migrants to Democratic cities and communities, calling the actions of Abbott or DeSantis "political stunts" and "un-American." During a speech at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute gala, Biden accused Republicans of "playing politics" and using migrants as "props."

Biden assured that "we have a process in place to manage migrants at the border." From the White House they also insist that "there is a process in place" and speak of "cruel and inhumane" attitudes of Republican governors. However, thousands of illegal aliens continue to cross the border every day. What used to be inaction now becomes a "humanitarian crisis" when it occurs in democratic paradises.
