Musk accuses Reuters of publishing 'propaganda' against him after it received $300 million in federal funding during the Biden administration
The news agency, one of the world's largest, received a Pulitzer for its coverage of alleged misbehavior by the U.S. tycoon's companies.
Elon Musk is accusing Reuters of publishing propaganda against him and his companies because of million-dollar contracts awarded to the news agency during Joe Biden's administration.
After Mike Benz, executive director of the Foundation For Freedom Online, published on X that Reuters received $300 million in funding from various U.S. federal government agencies during Joe Biden's tenure, Musk accused the news agency of publishing "paid propaganda" against him.
"Yeah, this explains a lot. Shame on @Reuters," Musk wrote.

Shame on @Reuters.
Paid propaganda! https://t.co/iffF0gZZdb
Musk's mother, Maye, came to her son's defense.
"What I observed, was that Reuters would do numerous malicious, dishonest reports on Elon and his companies. That gave all the liberal media a great quotation to spread hate, such as @nytimes, @washingtonpost, @latimes, @CNN, @MSNBC, etc.," Maye Musk said.
"Well, for $300 million plus many other millions, I assume Reuters found it worth it. It made me furious. Shame on the Biden administration, shame on Reuters, shame on the dishonest Democrat media, and everyone who knew they were telling lies, but found the money worth it."

The Musk family's criticism comes after Benz posted several images on X showing several contracts won by Reuters during the Biden administration. The contracts and figures can be verified on the federal government's USAspending.gov database.
On the same website, VOZ was able to verify that Reuters' contracts with the federal government transcend the Biden administration. In fact, during President-elect Donald Trump's first term in office, the news agency also enjoyed million-dollar contracts, according to data from 2016 through 2020.
In addition to the federal funding received by Reuters, one of the main questions against the agency is that it received a Pulitzer award due to its coverage of Musk and the alleged misbehavior of his companies.
According to critics, the reporting was published while Reuters was receiving millions of dollars from various federal government agencies that were, in turn, holding investigations or legal disputes with Musk's companies - Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink and X.
"The Biden Admin paid Reuters over $300 million in government contracts. 11 different Biden government agencies targeted Elon's businesses. All 11 agencies paid millions to Reuters. Reuters then won the Pulitzer Prize for 'their work on Elon Musk and misconduct at his businesses,'" Benz said in his post, which has 19.4 million views.
For the moment, the Reuters agency has not responded to Musk and Benz's accusations about publishing "propaganda" while maintaining contracts with the U.S. government during Biden's term, a president who had many disagreements with the U.S. tycoon who ended up backing and becoming an ally of President Trump.
