Leavitt served as the official spokesperson for Trump's latest presidential campaign and also worked in his first administration.
After graduating from college, she accepted a job in the White House Press Office, then headed by Kayleigh McEnany. After January 2021, she was hired for the communications team of Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, now nominated to be ambassador to the United Nations.
Leavitt attempted to enter the House of Representatives during the 2022 midterm elections, but was defeated by Democrat Chris Pappas in the general election. However, her victory in the Republican primary for New Hampshire's 1st District made her the second member of Generation Z to win a congressional primary since Democrat Maxwell Frost had done so the previous month.
